Why Apple Stem Cells are a Must-Have Anti-Aging Ingredient in Skincare
In the quest for smooth radiant skin, it seems the avid skincare enthusiast has no bounds and will try everything from the well-known heroes (hyaluronic acid) to the more obscure trends (snail slime).
But, what revolutionary ingredient do ageless beauties J.Lo, Gwyneth Paltrow and Michelle Obama swear by? A simple apple. Or, rather the stem cells from apples.
What are Stem Cells?
A stem cell is an undifferentiated cell that can develop into specialized cells for growth, development or repair. To put it simply, these are alike undeveloped cells that can become any type of cell depending on what part of the body needs to grow or regenerate. In humans, stem cells can become skin, hair, muscle or nerve cells. For plants, the undifferentiated cells live in the meristem, which is where the majority of growth takes place. When flowers or branches are broken off, stem cells become the versatile cells needed to repair and regenerate the plant’s tissue.
Stem cells provide the ability for species to renew and repair themselves. Because plants are rooted in the ground and have to survive (often extreme) weather changes, their stem cells contain a much stronger antioxidant content than those of humans.
Apple Stem Cells
It all started with a study in Switzerland. One of the original studies conducted an experiment on Swiss Uttwiler Spätlauber apple stem cells to determine the impact on reversing the signs of premature aging. The results showed that stem cell extracts could reverse the aging process of cultured fibroblasts and dramatically reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. From clinical trials on 20 people, which spanned over the course of 4 weeks, the apple stem extract was shown to significantly reduce crow’s feet.
Plant Stem Cells in Skincare
The high antioxidant content found in plant stem cells support your skin in combating free radicals that would otherwise cause damage. They give your skin the tools to protect itself, offering immense anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits. The boost of antioxidants and amino acids (building blocks of protein) boost collagen production and help keep your skin radiant and youthful.
In addition, plant stem cells release “messengers” such as growth factors, peptides and proteins to help rejuvenate targeted body cells.
Rare Swiss apple stem cells are prominent in many of our skincare products. Our lightweight multifaceted nectar Youth Serum contains this cell-rejuvenating ingredient to help plump skin and protect it from environmental stressors. Both our face creams—Glow in a Jar and Youth in a Jar—contain apple stem cells to complement the other 100% clean potent ingredients for protection and rejuvenation. These products all help slow down the aging process and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while promoting collagen production.
“This might sound TMI, but I had a spiritual orgasm! I use La Mer, but it gives me a sticky feeling—SWAY doesn’t!” —Christina Simpkins on Glow in a Jar
We are always looking for the best in clean modern skincare technology to incorporate into our formulations. Backed by scientific research, plant stem cells are a must-have for plumper, firmer, more radiant skin.
